GOD ENCOUNTERS
2008-08-26

Psalm for today: Psalm 76

But you, you are to be feared!
Who can stand before you when once your anger is roused?
From the heavens you uttered judgment;
the earth feared and was still, when God arose to establish judgment,
to save all the humble of the earth.
Verses 7-9

I wonder when this is going to happen?

Day 224

It's review day again. I'll look back at the last six devotions to see if I learned anything. Sometimes I do.

DAY 218--TELLING YOUR WHOLE STORY--Mark 5:25-34

All it takes to receive the blessing of the Lord is the faith to reach out and touch him. And you can't sneak up on him. The woman who had been bleeding for 12 years tried that. But she had the faith, and, as a result of that faith, she was healed.

DAY 219--TAKE YOUR TURN--Mark 7:24-30

Ministry is universal. It crosses all boundaries, whether they be racial, economical, geographical, whatever. We have a responsibility, as God's people to minister to all who are needy. Mind you, this is a group responsibility. There will always be some to whom you cannot possibly minister. And we should never feel guilty when that situation arises. But, if possible, we can point them in a direction where their need can be met.

Also...we should be persistent in our chase after the Lord's blessings. Never give up.

DAY 220--HEARTSTRINGS--Mark 10:17-22

We need God's grace. Desperately. You think those housewives are desperate?? Hah.

Ok. But seriously. We cannot save ourselves. No way, no how. The rich guy that came to Jesus found this out. He couldn't let go of his stuff. We have to be able to let go of it. After all, it is true. You can't take it with you. I don't want to take it with me.

Grace is the important thing. Possibly the most important thing.

DAY 221--THE BIG PICTURE--Mark 12:28-34

Love God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy. 'Nuf ced.

DAY 222--PETER BLOWS IT--Mark 14:66-72

Peter cursed and said that he didn't know Jesus. He denied Christ before men. But he was restored and got second chances. Once again, grace is an over-riding principle in our relationship with Jesus.

We all need second chances, and Jesus is gracious to give them.

DAY 223--THE MAIN CHARACTER IN THIS DRAMA--Luke 3:16-20

It is important to realize that we are all merely "stagehands" in this "drama." Jesus Christ is the main character. It's all about him. When we make it about us, even in the smallest way, we stray from the best path.

That's it for today. I think I had some good devotions over the last week. Blessings be on all of you.

Grace and peace, friends.
