God Encounters
2008-05-27

It was a nice weekend. Nice long one. I like those. There should be a Monday holiday every month. I'd vote for a president that would promise that. Forget everything else...just give me more days off.

Psalm for today: Psalm 21

"Be exalted, O LORD, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power." Verse 13

Day 168

It's review day, so I'll look over the last six entries to see if I learned anything.

Day 162--Confessing For Your Group--Daniel 9:4-9,18
I think the most important lesson in this one is that God's commitment never wavers, even when we are unfaithful to him, which we will, inevitably, be. And it's not a bad thing to voice a confession for our nation, either.

Day 163--The Right Path To Life--Daniel 12:1-3
In this passage that deals with end times, we are told that those who lived wisely and those who helped put people on the right path to life will shine like stars. We should all have a goal of shining as brilliantly as possible. Hopefully, my efforts to put people on the right path to worship will make me shine in that day.

Day 164--God As Lover--Hosea 2:14-20
God loves us deeply, even though we go "whoring" after other "gods." This relates closely to the idea of God's commitment in day 162. God will continue to chase after us, just as he had Hosea chase after Gomer time and time again.

Day 165--Love Again--Hosea 3:1-3
More of the same idea as day 164, with the added thought of applying that same love that God has for us towards others! What a radical concept! Who in our lives needs the kind of love that is described here? Is it even possible for us to love like that??

Day 166--Lip Service--Hosea 8:1-3
A very plain, direct, and simple message. Israel says they know God, but then act as if they don't. Do I do that? But again, as before, God continues to love us tenderly!

Day 167--Digging In With God--Hosea 10:11-12
We should be as the "trained heifer" described here, that loves to work in the field. Our heart's desire should be to work for God in his field, doing whatever he needs us to do.

"Sow righteousness, reap love."

Grace and peace, friends!
